ALL ABOUT PROJECTS.COM PUBLISHES NEW APPROACH TO PROJECT MANAGEMENT
by Anonymous

Madison Heights, MI -- All About Projects.com has published an article explaining ways to avoid common pitfalls that can occur in corporate projects. It takes a novel approach, focusing on the art of project management, rather than the science. The article describes the three central phases of a project's lifecycle and how teams often function in each of the three phases. Project management ideas highlighted in the new article on All About Projects.com are communication amongst the team, the role of the project manager in providing clear direction and showing the interconnectedness of each phase of the project. It is written by Brian Levy, a principal at Standpipe Studios, L.L.C. and former Manager of Interactive Development at MTV: Music Television. The article is available at http://www.allaboutprojects.com.

A practical, yet potentially controversial idea discussed in the article is that there's no point in creating a comprehensive plan unless open lines of communication between all teams can be maintained throughout the Implementation phase. "I think this is something that most people who do projects know," says Brian Levy "but specialists and the specialist literature often hold onto a project management principle, like a comprehensive plan, regardless of the business realities involved."

The article continues All About Project.com's narrative style and less technical approach to project management. "Most people are not taught how to get projects done," says Brian Levy "and much of the educational material available is covers the more technical side of project management, not the real, experiential component. Our aim is to explain real world project management practices to people who work on projects everyday."
