METROLINK FERRIES FURRY FRIENDS TO THE FAIR ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12

WHAT:    Petting Zoo Animals at Union Station and Riding on Metrolink – Friday, Sept. 12 is the opening day of the 81st annual Los Angeles County Fair. To remind people about the Fair, and let them know that they can take Metrolink to the Fair, there will be a mobile petting zoo set up at Union Station from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. At 9:00 a.m. the animals from the petting zoo will ride to the Pomona Fairplex aboard Metrolink train #302. They will arrive at the Fair at 9:42 a.m.

WHO:    Freckles, a 9-month old llama
    Jewel, a 1-year old Alpaca   
    Hank, a miniature zebra
    Cookie, a pygmy goat   
    And dozens of Metrolink commuters!
   
WHEN:    FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12, 2003

TIMES:    6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. – Petting Zoo open at Union Station

          8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. – Animals board Metrolink train #302

          9:00 a.m. – Metrolink train #302 departs Union Station with animals heading to Fair

          9:42 a.m. – Metrolink train #302 arrives at Fairplex

(NOTE: Members of the media are invited to ride to the Fair in the train with the animals but will need to provide their own return transportation.)

WHERE:    Los Angeles Union Station – South end of Metrolink platform 3
    800 N. Alameda Street, Los Angeles

PARKING:Parking will be available at Union Station from 6:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. in the baggage cart area at the south end of the train platforms. Enter from Cesar Chavez Ave. and follow signs to media parking.
